State funding and scholarships were on the agenda at the Dec. 19 regular board meeting of the Colonel Crawford Board of Education. All of the board members were present.

Superintendent Ted Bruner informed the board that they’ve received a grant from the Colonel Crawford School Foundation to support grants written by teachers for use in their classrooms. The amount granted was $7,924.

Superintendent Bruner express appreciation for scholarships presented by J & F Construction, and grants from the Colonel Crawford School Foundation.

J & F Construction also donated $1,000 for the establishment of two $500 scholarships.

Supt. Bruner also explained that Mr. Mike Tinkey has been working with the State of Ohio to determine the formulas used for state contributions to area school districts. In the 2010–2011 school year, Colonel Crawford received $3933 from the state for each student. The state average across all districts was $5,109, with 79 percent of Ohio school districts receiving more state funding per pupil than Colonel Crawford.

Tinkey explained that he has already met with the State of Ohio to examine how the monies are awarded. “This is only the first step. It’s going to be a long process, but we’ll stay on top of it and keep you updated,” he said.

The board also approved the following employment resolutions:
