Galion Safety Council to meet

The Galion Safety Council will meet from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on June 16 at the Galion Moose Lodge. The topic for the meeting is, “Using Fire Extinguishers, presented by Galion Fire Chief Phil Jackson and Captain Todd Eagle. Each attendee will have the opportunity for a “hands-on” experience.

Jackson started with the Galion Fire Department in 1995. He was promoted to Lieutenant in 2002, and to Chief in 2011. His qualifications include Bachelor’s Degree in Organization Management with a concentration in Public Safety Administration, certified EMT-paramedic, EMS instructor, fire inspector, fire investigator, Hazardous Materials Technician and confined space. He has received advanced trainings in management of EMS as well as Fire Department financial management from the National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg, Maryland.

Eagle has been with the Galion Fire Department since September of 1994. He has served as a Lieutenant since 2001 and was promoted to Captain on May 16, 2016. He is certified as a firefighter and emergency medical technician, and has additional certifications for fire inspection, hazardous materials and scuba diving. He is a 1988 graduate of Galion High School and lives in Galion with his family.
